METHOD INSTALLING ROYAL GARDEN EDGE

Measure the outline of the garden edging with a piece of string. Lay out a piece of string where you plan to install the edging. Then measure the string with a tape measure to determine how much you will need.

Dig a trench the same depth as the edging where you will be installing it. Make sure to dig deep enough so that the plastic edging does not protrude from the ground. If the edging protrudes, you could hit it with the lawnmower and cause damage.

Cut away any small roots that are in the way of the trench. Use loppers to remove any plant roots that are interfering with the depth of the trench. However, leave any large tree roots that are in the way as they will be easier to trim the edging to accommodate. Once the small roots have been cut, remove them from the trench to give you a clear area to work with.

Place the edging in the trench. Press the edge firmly into the trench. Make sure the top, edge is level with the surface of the trench.

Cut a notch in the plastic edge if there is a large tree root. Use scissors or a knife to cut a slit in the edge if there is a large root.

Fill the trench with soil. Use a shovel to place the soil you previously dug back into the trench. Make sure the soil is packed tightly.

Walk your feet around the curves of the edge. Flatten the soil so it is compact.

Wate the edges to settle the soil. Walk along the newly installed edge with a garden hose. Lightly water the soil on both sides of the edge.
