Use and maintenance
⬛ Before first use, wash your new cast iron plate with water and dishwashing liquid, then dry it and place it on the grate. It should be heated to a high temperature to get rid of microorganisms (burn out bacteria). Remember to also cover the plate with oil. The properties of the cast iron plates will improve with use.
⬛ It is recommended to heat the plate gradually and evenly. Sudden heating in one point can even lead to cracking!
⬛ After each grilling, the plate should be cleaned again in the same way - water and dishwashing liquid, and oiled after drying. A properly maintained grate will serve for many years.
⬛ After the end of the grilling season or in the event of a longer break in use, store the plate in a dry place.
⬛ Cast iron plates should not be washed in a dishwasher, with a pressure washer, sandblasted or with strong chemicals. These actions can cause rust and chemical penetration into the material. In addition, washing the grates in the dishwasher is ineffective because the dishwasher is unable to thoroughly clean the deeply stuck grease from the rough surface.
To ensure safe transport of the cast iron plate, it has been packed in a cardboard box and additionally secured with foam. This solid packaging system protects the plate from mechanical damage and ensures stability during movement. Thanks to such protection, you can be sure that your cast iron plate will reach its destination intact.
