Acid dispenser - Liebig In his scientific research on bees, Dr. Gerhard Liebig did not limit himself to theorizing, but also developed and patented a formic acid dispenser, which is exceptionally useful in effectively combating varroa. The dispenser enjoys considerable popularity in the West, and has recently been available to Polish beekeepers as well. The properties of formic acid (HCOOH), which has an anti-varroa effect, have been known for a long time. ocular, protozoicidal, fungistatic and – to a lesser extent – bacteriostatic and bactericidal. For this reason, formic acid has found application in combating the parasite Varroa destructor, or varroasis, one of the most dangerous and at the same time most difficult to eradicate diseases of bees. Formic acid affects parasites living on bees and hidden under the cells with brood, eliminating them and hindering their multiplication. The proper formic acid (HCOOH), which has anti-mite, protozoicidal, fungistatic and – to a lesser extent – bacteriostatic and bactericidal effects. For this reason, formic acid has been used to combat the Varroa destructor parasite, i.e. varroasis, one of the most dangerous and at the same time most difficult to eradicate diseases of bees. Formic acid affects parasites living on bees and hidden under the cells of brood , eliminating them and making it difficult for them to multiply. The use of formic acid requires skill and strict adherence to recommendations, if only because this simplest organic acid, used in too high a concentration above 25%, is toxic to humans and animals: it irritates the respiratory system and the eyesight, causes burns to the skin and mucous membranes, and tissue necrosis.
