6-frame polystyrene hive is widely used in apiary management. It can be used to create layers that will be used to expand the apiary or for sale. Thanks to the good thermal properties of the building material, smaller families with spare queens can be wintered in it. Its capacity is sufficient to be used to capture swarms and temporarily isolate them in order to combat Varroa destructor mites. It can also isolate bees during the control of malignant foulbrood and bees heavily infected with varroa. In a bee family occupying several frames, it is also possible to rear bee queens.

The construction of this 6-frame hive allows bees to winter in it, the use of the possibility of building up a food storage through the ½ body or the large body gives better chances of survival of bees in winter, additionally the use of a cover improves the possibility of feeding bees without interfering with the nest. The cover also gives us the possibility of observing the condition of wintered families in spring (by peeking in the spider hole) also without interfering with the nest,
